Start with geography

Arbor Hills sits on Plano’s western border, while Oak Point occupies a larger preserve in eastern Plano. If you have limited time, choosing the park nearer your starting point can matter more than choosing the larger one. Leave more of the morning for the actual walk.

Match the route to the day

Both preserves offer outdoor exploration. Review current official maps for surface, distance, trail access, and amenities rather than assuming every route will suit a stroller or a bike. Decide whether you want a paved walk or a natural-surface outing, then choose your route accordingly.

Avoid turning size into a goal

You do not need to cover a whole preserve. Set a turnaround time, carry water, and look up current weather and closure notices before leaving. After rain, verify trail conditions before choosing a natural-surface route. If you want a second visit, save the other park for another day and compare the experiences afterward.
